NavEd fits the way Classical Conversations communities already run: grades, attendance, records and a transcript, without asking anyone to be a district first.
You already run the community: tutors trained, curriculum licensed, families showing up every week. NavEd is the operations layer underneath it, for attendance, tutor assignments, and the transcript record that Classical Conversations leaves the parent to build by hand. Your curriculum and CC Connected stay exactly as they are.
This is you if
- One Director runs the community: books the space, recruits families, trains and assigns tutors.
- Tutors are homeschooling parents from your own group, each leading one class through the week's material, not outside staff with a teaching credential.
- You meet one day a week, in a rented space, across Foundations, Essentials, and Challenge classes.
- Families do the actual teaching at home the other four days; the community day is discussion, presentation, and accountability.
- Attendance, room and tutor assignments, and Challenge credit hours are still tracked by hand, on a spreadsheet or in a group text.
What NavEd does for you
Attendance and rosters, one class at a time
Each age-group class becomes its own class in NavEd. The tutor marks attendance for their own Foundations, Essentials, or Challenge roster on community day and sees nothing else. The Director sees every class at once, which is the view that currently only exists in your head on the drive home.
Tutor assignments and family visibility
Tutors are added as staff and assigned to the class or classes they lead. Parents get their own login showing only their own children's week, matching the way your community already separates a tutor's job from a Director's.
Grades and a transcript that builds as you go
For Challenge classes, tutors enter grades in the gradebook, and the transcript pulls together from those same records every time it's viewed. Credit hours accumulate term by term instead of getting rebuilt by hand near graduation.
Enrolling families and collecting forms each term
New families enroll through a form your community controls: an enrollment form that's free on every plan. Supply lists, permission-style forms, and sign-ups go out and get tracked the same way.
What is still manual
- Licensing dues and the tutor-pay split still go through you: NavEd doesn't calculate or move money between the Director, tutors, or CC national.
- There's no Classical Conversations-specific transcript template yet. Your transcript builds from the grades your tutors enter, not from preloaded Challenge course names or credit-hour mappings.
- Nothing syncs automatically from CC Connected: family and program-level records don't move between the two systems on their own.
- NavEd collects tuition as a yearly plan with a set number of installments and a manual per-household override on the total, and families can sign an enrollment agreement with a typed legal name against the document. What it cannot derive is the tutor-pay split or a sibling discount, so those numbers stay yours to work out and enter.
Getting started
- Start a free account for your community. The first five students are free on every plan, no credit card required. See the pricing calculator for what a larger community looks like.
- Add each age-group class as its own class in NavEd and set your term dates.
- Invite your tutors as staff and assign each one to the class or classes they lead.
- Enroll your families through NavEd's enrollment form. Each parent gets a login that shows only their own children.
- Have tutors take attendance and enter grades each week. For Challenge classes, the transcript builds itself from those records as the year goes on.
- When your community grows past five students, move to a paid plan whenever it makes sense. Keeping records, taking attendance, and exporting your own data stay free either way.
Questions Classical Conversations communities ask
Does this replace CC Connected?
No. CC Connected still handles your licensing, billing to CC national, and curriculum and strand access. NavEd is your community's own attendance, tutor, and transcript records, sitting alongside it.
We don't have a school, just a community day. Does NavEd still fit?
Yes. Many groups using NavEd are exactly this: a Director, parent tutors, no outside staff, one class per age group meeting one day a week.
Can NavEd build our Challenge students' transcript?
Tutors enter grades in the gradebook each term, and the transcript is assembled live from those records every time it's viewed, so credit hours build up as the years go rather than getting reconstructed by hand near graduation.
Do tutors see every family, or just their own class?
Each tutor sees only the roster for the class they teach. Families see only their own children. Neither one sees the Director's full community view.
