What NavEd does for you
A transcript built from the grades you already have
The free transcript tool needs no login and no account to try. It builds a transcript directly from the grades and courses you enter: real course titles, credits, letter or numeric grades, and a GPA calculated on a stated scale. You're the one who signs it, the same as any parent-prepared transcript.
Grades and attendance for every kid, every year
Keep a gradebook for each subject and each school year without inventing your own spreadsheet columns. Attendance is a day-level record, present, absent, or late, per student per day. If your state counts days, that is the record. If your state counts instructional hours, NavEd does not total them for you.
One account, every kid, no records blurring together
Each child gets their own student record under one login, so a second grader and a tenth grader never share one undifferentiated log. You can see all of your kids from a single parent view.
A record of what you actually taught
What you covered lives in the assignment titles, grades, and comments you enter per subject as you go. It is not a lesson planner and it will not write a course description, but by spring you have a dated account of the work rather than a memory of it.
What is still manual
- NavEd doesn't know your state's specific rules. It won't generate a state's quarterly report form or its own compliance checklist; you still need to check what your state asks for and file it yourself.
- If a college wants a course description or a work sample as backup, you put that together. The transcript tool builds the transcript; it doesn't write your curriculum for you.
- NavEd doesn't publish or deliver curriculum. Bring whatever you're already teaching from, boxed, library-built, or your own.
- No one reviews or approves your transcript but you. That's how a parent-prepared transcript is supposed to work.
- Instructional hours are not totaled. Attendance is per student, per day. If your state reports in hours, you add those up yourself.

Questions Homeschooling families ask
Do I need to be part of a co-op to use NavEd?
No. NavEd works for a single family teaching their own kids just as well as it works for a co-op. Nothing on this page requires other families to be involved.
Will colleges accept a transcript I build myself?
NavEd's free tool builds a transcript with real course titles, credits, grades, and a stated GPA scale, and you sign it as the parent. Whether a given college accepts a parent-prepared transcript is that college's call. NavEd doesn't accredit anyone or vouch for a transcript on your behalf.
I only have one or two kids. Is this too much for me?
No. One family with one kid uses the same free account as one with five. There's no minimum, and a smaller homeschool isn't a smaller or unfinished version of anything on this page.
Does NavEd know what my state requires?
No. Requirements vary a lot, from nothing at all in some states to quarterly reports and annual assessments in others. NavEd keeps your records; you still need to check what your own state asks for.
What happens if I start teaching other kids too, like a co-op class?
You keep everything you've already recorded. If you grow past five students, you pay only then, on whichever plan fits. Your first five students stay free forever, on every plan, and nothing about today's free use changes.
